Sunshine Solar can design and size a system to suit your requirements. Sunshine Solar can help you identify what alternative energy sources are available for heating water and spaces, alleviating the amount of power needed from your solar power system.

A battery bank will typically need replacing in 5-15 years, depending on quality, sizing and how often you use them. There are issues that arise if your battery bank is too small or too large. Too small and it may be discharged at a low level too often – shortening its life. If it is too large, it will cost you more and it may not fully charge regularly – shortening its life. Sunshine Solar will help you choose the right sized battery bank for your needs. We also provide a maintenance programme to help you keep your batteries in good working condition for longer.

You will need an inverter which converts electricity from direct current (DC) electricity to alternating current (AC). Sunshine Solar recommends using advanced inverters specifically for stand-alone power systems that control your generation units and how much electricity your house is using at any time. We can help you choose the right size and type that is compatible with your appliances.

Sunshine Solar has extensive experience in designing and installing stand-alone solar power systems that meet the requirements of local and regional councils. We project manage your installation and will assist you in gaining the necessary building and/or resource consents. We remove the stress of liasising with the planning and/or building consent officer at your local council on your behalf. This ensures that you have peace of mind and know that the right processes are being adhered to.

Saving Cash – Saving Power

The biggest advantage when it comes to solar energy is that solar energy systems are powered by the sun, and sunlight is free. Your house does not have to be in direct sunlight all day in order to benefit from solar, and solar energy systems ‘store’ power during the day, so don’t think all your appliances will be useless once the sun goes down. Solar energy systems still draw power from the sun even on cloudy days.

It is possible to install enough solar panels on your roof so your home is completely powered by solar energy – meaning that you pay power companies absolutely nothing!

There are other financial aspects to take into consideration if you’re thinking about converting to solar energy. Some power companies will buy any surplus energy your system generates but which you yourselves do not use.

Once your renewable energy system is in place, you will in effect, be your own power company.

Solar systems can definitely save you money. The real question is, how much exactly? Well, that figure is based on a number of factors such as your exact location, your roof, your power bill, size of the system and several other factors. The fact is, every building and location is different. The fastest and most accurate way to determine exactly how much you can save, and how much it’s going to cost you, is to get a quote from Sunshine Solar.

Energy Buy Back

New Zealand currently has no set policy to regulate the buy back of power from solar energy creators. Each retailer sets their own policy and there is no government of this.
Comparisons are always in your best interest. As well as comparing retailers buy back rates you are best also to consider their retails rates for your area. The best retailer for you will depend on factors such as how much power your setup produces and how much you are likely to be able to send back to the retailer.
